Sure, Bret Hart loved pro wrestling when he broke into it. But make no mistake about it, money was always on his mind during the Monday Night Wars. He wanted his worth and made big demands of Vince McMahon. When that money wasn't there, he then made one of the biggest WCW contracts ever. That sort of situation just doesn't happen if you don't put money above all else. It would be naive of people to believe Hart's version of events about WWF loyalty; he was all about maximising his money and had been for years. What that meant for Hart was a twenty year WWF contract, starting at $1.5 million a year. Just stop and think about that. He'd extracted huge money and commitment from the WWF, way beyond the normal wrestler salary. So much so, that Vince couldn't afford it. Hence why Hart ended up doing a $3 million deal with WCW, which at the time was the best deal anyone outside of Hogan had. Do you really think Hart got that much money by being a nice guy? Or by being a shrewd and ruthless money man like Hulk Hogan?
