15 Awesome WWE Sagas To Binge-Watch On Netflix Over Christmas
2. CM Punk’s WWE Return
Hell appeared to freeze over when CM Punk walked out at the tail end of Survivor Series 2023 to a massive pop. Few could believe their eyes, and that included both Seth Rollins and Drew McIntyre. They'd claim otherwise, but there must've been some working going on to sell fans on the idea that WWE's top guys were not dialled in to the idea of sharing screentime with Punk.
Like with John Cena's retirement tour and the Bianca Belair/Naomi/Jade Cargill content, you can binge watch pretty much every step of Punk's second WWE run via Netflix. He's had some injury stumbles here or there, but it's been a stunning renaissance for someone who once seemed like he'd never launch a company comeback. Many thought Punk would be team AEW for good when he debuted there in 2021.
Issues with The Elite and Tony Khan's management put paid to that ('Brawl Out' etc), and the fallout cleared the way for Triple H to stick in a shock phone call that changed modern-day WWE completely. Latterly, Punk was even joined in the unlikely comeback wing by his wife AJ Lee, and who honestly saw that coming either?
Since leaping back onto WWE TV and PLE, Punk has wrestled fantastic efforts vs. Drew McIntyre, Roman Reigns, Seth Rollins, John Cena and others. He looks happy again, and there haven't been any reports of unrest behind the scenes. That's worth mentioning only because there had been some worries about 'dramatic Phil' being...dramatic. It just hasn't happened.
He's been an elite soldier. So to speak.
Top Recommendation: A blistering Hell In A Cell match vs. McIntyre at Bad Blood 2024 was one of the year's best.
