The way Mattel typically handles new superstars that are "first time in the line" selections has been pretty consistent over the years. First, they usually receive a Basic style action figure and won't always get an Elite version. If the superstar is popular enough, they'll likely see an Elite version released several months after their first Basic, but, legends and flashbacks notwithstanding, new WWE or NXT superstars are usually created in Basic form first.

That tradition continues with two NXT tag teams that were revealed via renders this past weekend, The Revival (Battle Pack 45) and the more anticipated duo of Jason Jordan and Chad Gable, American Alpha (Battle Pack 44).

Both teams will actually come as part of the Battle Pack series which includes 2 Basic form figures in one package. Perhaps eventually Jordan and Gable will receive the Elite treatment. They certainly are popular enough and now that they have been drafted to SmackDown as part of the main WWE roster, Elite versions of Alpha seem likely.

Future Elites could also be an opportunity for Mattel to include the never-before-produced NXT Tag Team titles as Gable and Jordan's accessories, but that's just wishful thinking at this point.

Look for Battle Pack series 44 (sans accessories) to hit stores no sooner than this Christmas season.
