The WWE had missed The Rock since Hollywood had poached him and re-christened him Dwayne Johnson in the early 2000s. The Rock had been one of the company's most charismatic performers and in the absence of Steve Austin its biggest star. The Rock still popped up every now and again but his appearances were getting less and less frequent. They were also often pre-recorded, which isn't the same as having the real thing appearing live in the ring (something Cena made a point of during his and The Rock's feud). The Great One returned to WWE proper on February 14th, 2011 when he was revealed as the host of WrestleMania XXVII. It was his first live appearance in almost seven years and the crowd went absolutely mental at the sound of his instantly recognisable entrance music. You don't hear pops like that every day. The Rock would wrestle his WWE comeback match at Survivor Series, teaming with Cena to take on Awesome Truth. After that The Rock engaged in a highly entertaining feud with Cena, culminating in their two WrestleMania main events in 2012 and 2013. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=880--eFMZ7g
