Wrestlers don't always get to go out on their own terms. Some, like Bret Hart, have to bow out because of a career-ending injury. Others quietly fade away to little fanfare, leaving the business long after they had outlived their usefulness. Very few get to retire in the manner that Shawn Michaels did. It was fitting that one of, if not the, greatest of all time got to retire like that. Michaels had been WWE's best and most dependable worker since returning from a severe back injury in 2002. Michaels defied the odds (and his doctors) by coming back better than ever after four years on the sidelines. By 2010 Michaels had saved enough money and done enough in WWE that he could retire comfortably and leave with no regrets. He didn't want to hang on too long, like Ric Flair, whom HBK retired in 2008. Michaels went out on the top of his game in the main event of WrestleMania against one of his best opponents. Michaels lost a phenomenal Career versus Streak match to The Undertaker at WrestleMania XXVI. The final image of WrestleMania was Shawn Michaels, one of the best of all time, leaving the University of Phoenix Stadium to a standing ovation from 72,000 fans. It was the perfect way retire. Unlike most wrestling retirements, this one looks like it's going to stick. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Cr28hKnUOoM
