Shawn Michaels wasn't supposed to face Razor Ramon at SummerSlam 1995. His original opponent was going to be Sycho Sid because of their history as a duo and Sid destroying Michaels with a number of Powerbombs on Raw that turned Michaels into a face, but WWE decided to change that up. They changed it because they knew that SummerSlam 1995 was going to be an awful show without a truly great match on it, so they had Michaels face Ramon in a ladder match in a rematch of their WrestleMania match a year earlier that is still regarded as one of the best matches ever. This match may not be remembered as well as the WrestleMania 10 match, but it's still excellent. They actually got more time this around. Since they were both faces the crowd ended up cheering both guys although the story was better going into WM10 too. This one saw them do some different things and introduce a second ladder to the mix. Michaels ended up winning the match to retain his IC Title although he failed on his first attempt to get it after hitting a Superkick on Ramon while they were on the ladder. He went up again, but couldn't reach it and he freaked out about it. He was able to get it on the third chance.
