15 Best WWE SummerSlam Moments

9. The Ultimate Warrior Ends Honky Tonk Man's IC Title Reign (1988)

"Give me somebody out here to wrestle. I don't care who it is!" - Honky Tonk Man This took place at the first SummerSlam in 1988. It's an angle that WWE could try to duplicate, but it's never going to have the kind of reaction that it did here. The reason it worked so well is because the Honky Tonk Man was a heel Intercontinental Champion that held the title for an incredible 454 days, which is still the longest reign of any IC Title holder. He wanted somebody to face him. There was a bit of a delay. Then the music hit. The Ultimate Warrior ran down to the ring and the Madison Square Garden crowd went absolutely crazy! Wow. Listening to that reaction again is amazing. Gorilla Monsoon uttered his famous line: "This place has gone bananas!" Warrior destroyed Honky Tonk Man with a bodyslam, a flying shoulder tackle, a clothesline and big splash. He covered for the win after 31 seconds. It was a match that fans will always remember because he ended the impressive title reign of Honky Tonk Man. They could have had a long match, but it would have probably been bad. Doing it this way made it a lot more memorable.
