15 Craziest WWE Fan Theories About WCW

5. Dead Man Walkin' Out

In 2000, things were looking bad for WCW, but not irreversible. In fact, one could characterize that year as a series of panicked attempts to turn things around. They had accomplished it before with the help of infusions of WWF starpower, and apparently they were close to doing it again. Kevin Nash claims that the Undertaker€™s American Badass persona was a result of Taker consciously moving away from his established character so he could jump ship. If the defection of any major star to WCW could have turned the tide, it would have been Undertaker, and even today the Deadman is known for not breaking character, so what€™s the truth here? Undertaker was indeed unhappy in the run-up to his metamorphosis, and WCW did offer him a contract. However, Taker refused that contract during the sabbatical that preceded his new character. Simply, Taker knew by the time he started the biker character that he was staying with the McMahons, so either Big Sexy doesn€™t have his timeline straight or he's simply playing fast and loose with history. Given what we€™ve heard about Nash€™s conduct so far on this list, either is pretty plausible.
