14. Stephanie Hits Rock Bottom

One of the most consistent targets of the McMahon-Helmsley Faction, The Rock entered WrestleMania 2000 as the favorite to leave Anaheim with the WWE Championship. With Vince McMahon in his corner to ensure there would be no interference from his ungrateful children Stephanie and Shane, the Great One could focus his attention on opponents Triple H, Mankind and Big Show as he attempted to capture the title that had eluded him for a year. As history tells us, things did not go according to plan. The Rock's plan, at least. Vince shocked the world by betraying his charge and helping his son-in-law Triple H retain his championship. None too pleased with the outcome of his latest title opportunity, Rock left father, son and champion lying before Stephanie stuck her nose in his business. She confronted the top contender to her husband's title and talked trash. It was not until she slapped wrestling's most electrifying Superstar that she was on the receiving end of his fury. His anger at an all-time high, Rock grabbed hold of the WWE Women's champion and planted her with the Rock Bottom, to the delight of the fans inside the Anaheim Pond. A People's Elbow only enhanced the reaction tenfold. For the first time since she rose to prominence as one of the top heels in the industry, Stephanie fell victim to a physical attack by one of the male Superstars. It was a huge moment because it was so unexpected. It was not out of the realm of possibility that Vince would turn on The Rock but few could have predicted that the boss would allow his precious daughter to take a bump. The reaction was outstanding and, despite the fact that the babyface failed to leave the Showcase of the Immortals with the WWE title for the first time in the event's history, the fans still left happy.
