15 Exact Moments WCW Booking Stopped Making Sense

Pro wrestling has booked a number of stupid on screen kayfabe "deaths" over the years. Many of them took place in mad promotions like Lucha Underground, but Vince McMahon's TV character was also supposed to snuff it when his limo exploded in 2007, and WWE has even booked murders on episodes of NXT more recently.

Then, there was WCW's Halloween Havoc 1991 pay-per-view. The show opened with a wild ‘Chamber Of Horrors’ match that saw Sting, The Steiner Brothers and El Gigante beat Cactus Jack, Big Van Vader, Abdullah The Butcher and The Diamond Studd in one of the most crummy brawls going. Come the end, Abdullah was going to get electrocuted and apparently die.

Yay! What a way to set the tone for the rest of your card.

Sadly, pesky logic had to go and spoil everything. WCW's cameras clearly showed that the on/off switch was set to "on" for most of the match, yet there were no sparks flying from the chair. For the finish, Jack accidentally pulled the switch on his own partner, but he had to first put it to "off" before doing so. Oops.

Then, an unconvincing pyro display you'd see in a family's back garden or at AEW Revolution 2021 erm...erupted and eh...thrilled the live crowd in Chattanooga, Tennessee. It was all very low budget and crappy, but the biggest problem was that the switch's lever had been going heel for the entire duration of the gimmicked match.

Good on big Abby for twitching and selling actual death to kick things off on this trick or treat nightmare of a show.
