12. Non-Cruiserweights Are Cruiserweight Champ

The main selling point for TNA's X Division upon launch was that it didn't have weight limits, "it had no limits". Did you know? WCW actually beat Total Nonstop Action to the punch a few years before the likes of AJ Styles, Jerry Lynn, Low-Ki and Amazing Red were putting that belt on the map. It's true. Sort of - and they did it by taking insulting digs at serious health battles the beloved Jim Ross was going through.

Starrcade 1999 saw Madusa become the first female WCW Cruiserweight Champion in history. On the plus side, she likely fit the weight parameters. On the negative side, this was somehow even worse than seeing Three Count's Evan Karagias with the title. What happened next should be used as a metaphorical stick to beat Ed Ferrara and Vince Russo with until the end of time.

Ferrara's cheap JR wannabe character Oklahoma won the strap at Souled Out in January 2000, but he'd vacate it mere days later on Thunder due to his failure to meet the Cruiserweight gold's weight limitations. So...why did WCW's board of directors agree to put OK in the match on pay-per-view in the first place? Surely that's one of the first things they should've checked out.

Good lord, this was just awful stuff. As if it wasn't bad enough that Oklahoma was making light of Jim's Bell's Palsy, now the gimmick as trodding all over a belt best-known for vintage battles between the likes of Rey Mysterio, Chris Jericho, Eddie Guerrero, Dean Malenko and others.

What a load of bull.
