These two long-time best friends feuded briefly in the fall of 1995, and for a good portion of the feud both men remained heels. Arn Anderson went nuclear Virgil on Flair for the years of beatings he'd taken for the Nature Boy, but he did it by recruiting his own "enforcer" in Brian Pillman. You had Flair being his normal, weaselly self with Arn Anderson orchestrating Horsemen-style gang attacks on him. It wasn't clear which of these two terrible people the fans were supposed to be siding with. Things didn't get any clearer when they finally met at Fall Brawl 1995, though the match was excellent. Anderson knew all of Flair's standard dirty tricks, and was using his superior strength to muscle the Nature Boy, not unlike Sting might do. Flair, meanwhile, had to dig deep and start throwing Randy Savage flying axe handles to the floor, as if he were wrestling Vader. Basically, two top heels wrestled a face vs. face match, and the audience played along, cheering both men. Ultimately, Anderson out-Flaired Flair by utilizing a Pillman distraction to pick up the win.
