15 Great Heel Versus Heel Matches You Must See

4. The Midnight Express vs. Arn Anderson & Tully Blanchard (1988)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UWNprByHwrc In the late 1980's, the NWA had a unique, and somewhat enviable problem. They had two top-level, world class, all-time great heel tag teams: Arn Anderson and Tully Blanchard of the Four Horsemen, as well as "Sweet" Stan Lane and "Beautiful" Bobby Eaton, the Midnight Express. Both teams would feud on and off with the company's undisputed top babyface team, the Rock n' Roll Express, but in the end, only one team could be the top heels. Most of the time, the Horsemen, with their emphasis on excellence and established link with perennial champ Ric Flair, got the nod. That is, until Arn and Tully gave notice that they'd be jumping to the WWE to become Bobby Heenan's Brain Busters. They were the NWA world tag team champions at the time, and the Midnights, as U.S. tag champs, were de facto number one contenders. The resulting feud was interesting, with highlights including Jim Cornette cutting a fiery babyface promo about how good the Midnights are at jumping people from behind and how the fans sup-porting them against the Horsemen were idiots. Ultimately, the still-evil Midnights would send the Horsemen packing to win their one and only world tag team championship to a HUGE babyface reaction.
