Fewer high-power stables have come in with a bigger roar and gone out with a wimpier whimper than the Nexus. Wade Barrett's personal army began its WWE career by absolutely dismantling John Cena, CM Punk, and the ring itself. By the time things ended, the Nexus had become the victim of an nWo Wolfpac-style splintering and a hostile takeover by none other than CM Punk. Just prior to the 2011 Royal Rumble, Punk would face Barrett, with only the winner's stable gaining entry in the Rumble match. Because we can't have nice things, John Cena was named special guest referee. Before the bell, Cena ejected both the New Nexus and the Corre from ringside. Then, because he is the worst person in the world, slapped and shoved both participants before threatening to disqualify them. During the remainder of the match, Cena would leave the ring to sign autographs, physically hurl Punk out of the ring for no reason, and finally disqualify both wrestlers for "excessive profanity on a PG show." This remains the only heel vs. heel match ever refereed by an even bigger jerk than either wrestler.
