15 Greatest Cults In Wrestling History
4. The Wyatt Family
Leader: Bray Wyatt
Members: Eli Cottonwood, Luke Harper, Erick Rowan, Braun Strowman, Daniel Bryan, Randy Orton
The Wyatt Family may go down in history as one of WWE's biggest-ever missed opportunities. Originally formed in NXT (with Eli 'Mustache' Cottonwood!), the Family has seemed forever poised on the brink of being really, really great. The fans have always been so ready to be molten for them, but WWE seems to have signed some kind of contract to make them look like goobers as soon as they gain a modicum of momentum. They're constantly losing members due to injury or breakup. Remember when Erick Rowan was a Rubik's Cube-solving genius vintner? What about Luke Harper going solo and having an underwhelming IC title run?
Part of the problem may be Bray Wyatt's own failure to articulate any kind of coherent direction for his family. Are we bringing down the machine? Are we burning down the world? I know someone is supposed to be following the buzzards, but where are they supposed to be going?
