2015 has been a hugely important year for pro wrestling, especially as it relates to changing the status quo. Since WCW's demise and TNA's slow but steady decline into irrelevance, WWE became the only game in town. When Sting finally signed in 2014, fans lamented the last of the great inter-promotional dream matches; without a worthy competitor to provide fresh, ready-made stars, the concept seemed a relic of the territory days. In the closing months of 2015, however, things couldn't look more different. While NJPW, AAA, ROH and CMLL don't have the global drawing power of WWE, they have penetrated the international market with tours, streaming services, and English language pay-per-views. Even more tantalizingly, what were once impenetrable walls between promotions have become remarkably permeable: NJPW icon Jushin Liger wrestled at Takeover: Brooklyn, and AAA's top champion won John Cena's US Title at Hell In A Cell. The inter-promotional match is alive and well in 2015, and this list details 15 matches that, like the two above, would have been mere smark speculation just a few years ago. In fact, given WWE's recent fondness for importing established stars and the worldwide trend of building working relationships with other companies, who's to say that we won't have seen these matches by the end of 2016?
