15 Match Star Ratings For AEW All Out 2022

9. Jade Cargill Vs. Athena - TBS Title Match

Jon Moxley CM Punk
AEW

A good version of an attraction that has ran its course, Jade Cargill's streak is such a non-concern at this point. As is Athena, Jesus Christ and what a shame. The result was something of a giveaway.

Why did Tony even sign her to a deal?

When she debuted, she did so in a convoluted, over-thought angle in opposition to Jade and Stokely Hathaway. By the time the blow-off happened a quarter of a year later, she had wrestled just four TV matches, didn't appear on the go-home Dynamite, and Stokely was on his second stable.

In a match reeking of obligation, Athena proved she was worth so much more; she worked brilliantly around Cargill, using her poise and agility to slip out of a counter attempt and launch herself seamlessly into a pop-up fallaway slam. Showing fire, she kipped back up before eating a spear. She trimmed the fat of the typical Jade match - a spectacle that too often gets lost in itself - and did much to get Jade over as unbeatable killer without undermining her own aura.

It's a miracle and a credit to her that she still just about has one.

Star Rating: ★★¾
