15 New Directions For WWE After WrestleMania 42
14. Paige Going Solo Quickly
Can anyone else see Paige's new Women’s Tag-Team Title run with Brie Bella being short-lived? The championship win was a terrific moment for her personally, because it once looked like the ex-Saraya would never get to grace WWE rings again. Like Speed, but for different reasons, Paige's ring time was limited during that Fatal-4-Way on opening night.
She'll have to ease herself back in. Incredibly, Paige hadn't wrestled since way back on the 8 October 2024 edition of AEW Dynamite, which feels like a lifetime ago. That's why these tags make sense for now, but they can't be the Brit's long term goal now she's back in the big time.
Singles bouts vs. Charlotte Flair, Becky Lynch etc are a real must now Paige has returned. It'd also be nice to see her vs. AJ Lee at some point, but that could be risky when AJ hasn’t exactly been setting things on fire in-ring since her comeback. Plus, there are no guarantees over what the future holds for Lee after losing the Women's Intercontinental Title.
WWE chiefs might be setting both up to fail there anyway, so it’d need some careful thought.
Teaming with Brie in the interim is a decent spot for Paige. She can work off the ring rust, get her confidence levels sky high, then make up for lost time in blockbuster matches that'll help the women's division through until SummerSlam.
You just know there will be loads of women queuing up to have her first one-on-one, either on TV or PLE.
