15 Terrible Matches Triple H Wants You To Forget

3. Triple H Vs. Randy Orton - WrestleMania XXV

Orton and Triple H are capable of having good matches with each other. They're had several great ones on TV and pay-per-view, but it's their clunkers that stick out in the memory. For every great match that they have with each other, they seem to have a poor one to cancel it out. There's just something off about their chemistry. They're both great workers, obviously, and they've worked with each other countless times, but sometimes it just falls completely flat. Never did it fall flatter than in the main event of WrestleMania XXV, in a situation reminiscent of WrestleMania X8. Triple H and Orton were the World Championship match and so they went on last. The trouble was they had no hope in following Shawn Michaels and The Undertaker who had one of the all-time great WrestleMania matches earlier on the show. Like Rock/Hogan in 2002, nobody could follow that. The Viper and The Game tried, but the crowd didn't bite. Their match had no heat and the whole 'if Triple H gets DQ'd or counted out he loses the title' stipulation didn't help anything. Triple H won, retaining his belt, and the crowd went mild. It wasn't a good match and the result was never in doubt.
