15 Things We Learned From Paige On Stone Cold's WWE Network Podcast
4. Tough Enough
Stone Cold changes gears to talking about Tough Enough, saying that he thinks the show has had a rocky ride because people were expecting the 2011 version and got an entirely different show. He adds that he likes the live element but that sometimes it feels like they're trying to cram too much into an episode. He talks about how she's gotten a little bit of heat for being tough on the contestants, and she says she's even gotten death threats. Paige says she's not trying to belittle them, she's just being critical, and says that there are a lot of non-wrestling fans watching the show who don't know her backstory and think she's just some random young girl. That's a dubious claim since according to the ratings hardly anyone is watching the show at all, much less non-fans. She relates it to the type of motivation she was always witness to when she was coming up, and says that she isn't being mean, just honest. Austin gives Paige credit for her being hard but fair, citing how she fired up Sara Lee and got her to step her game up, and says that he'd rather have someone give him the truth than sugarcoat things. The talk then shifts to Patrick Clark and she says he was only 19-years old and was already developing a huge ego, and the whole point of that challenge was to show humility. She says he rubbed her the wrong way and she thought he needed a reality check, adding that she didn't expect him to be sent home. She doesn't understand the backlash she received on social media since it was the fans' fault for not voting for him to stay. Austin adds that if the consensus was he should've stayed then he would have.
