15 Times Stone Cold Steve Austin's Ego Ran Wild In WWE

11. Holding Down Jeff Jarrett

Another wrestler Austin held down in 1999 was Jeff Jarrett. Vince Russo was a big fan of Jarrett and wanted to push him in a headlining position, which he later did to disastrous results when booking WCW. Austin was having none of it when the suggestion came up in the WWF. He reportedly outright disliked Double-J and felt like he wasn't main event level, so there was no chance he was going to do business with him. That was reportedly a factor in Russo and Jarrett later leaving WWF, which at the time was seen as a damaging blow to the company. Austin's ego could have really hurt business in this instance, it was only in retrospect that Russo and Jarrett proved abysmal. Once again, Austin had held someone down, but you could argue that he was ultimately right.
