15 Times Stone Cold Steve Austin's Ego Ran Wild In WWE

10. Refusing To Do A Job For Triple H At SummerSlam 1999

There can be no explanation for this one, other than Austin personally disliking Triple H. That animosity stemmed back to the days when Hunter was Shawn Michaels' top-boy and the pair were playing politics with Vince and the roster. Now Austin was in the Michaels position and doing the exact same thing - he told Vince that he wouldn't drop the belt to Triple H at SummerSlam 99. This was despite Hunter being a genuinely great wrestler and obvious emerging star. Putting the belt on him was clearly best for business, but Austin wanted no part of it. He felt like Hunter wasn't over enough and simply didn't like the guy. As such, Mick Foley was added to the SummerSlam match to make it a triple threat of Austin Vs Hunter Vs Mankind. Instead of Triple H, it was Foley who became champion. The next night on Raw, Triple H beat Foley and won his first every championship. He went on to do huge business in 2000 and was easily the best wrestler of that year.
