15 Times WCW Was Better Than Literally EVERYTHING

10. Shane McMahon Drops Vince’s Jaw

Here's something just a little bit different.

Not many WWF/WWE moments involving WCW could be counted as worth your time, but this is definitely one of them. A historic simulcast between Raw and Nitro brought the 'Monday Night Wars' together for one night only on 26 March 2001. Footage that's been hiding in the archives for almost 25 years recently surfaced on WWE's Vault YouTube channel, and it's bizarre to watch now.

Fans didn't see any of that at the time, but they did see an arrogant and triumphant Vince McMahon rubbing salt into Atlanta wounds by reading the riot act on unwanted WCW workers as he gloated about owning his own competition. Then, his son Shane strolled on camera and revealed: "I now own WCW" as a stunned father couldn't believe his eyes.

This reveal obviously restricted the WWF vs. WCW war to more McMahon family in-fighting (something that would worsen when Stephanie became the new head of ECW in July), but it did also make the WCW brand feel important during an uncertain time. Yes, the subsequent invasion angle was a letdown, but this simulcast moment in March ruled, and it made Nitro edgy for the first time in a long time.

Suddenly, despite already being out of business and at the mercy of Vince, WCW had an aura about it again. Fans wondered aloud what would happen next. They were on the edge of their seats waiting and hoping for blockbuster 'Us vs. Them' pay-per-view mega matches.

Shane's strong promo delivery and cocksure youth swagger helped make that possible, at least for a while.
