15 Times WWE Stars Made Cameos BEFORE They Were Famous
8. Ricky Saints
Legend has it that promoters could book Ricky Saints/Starks to read an instruction manual on how to properly build a steam engine and he'd find a way to make it entertaining. The former AEW star just has charisma by the bucketload, and he doesn't really need to be the featured performer on camera to steal the scene. That takes talent, people.
Roll back the calendar to 4 August 2014 for proof. There, Saints was a ringside extra who was gleefully stuffing his face with popcorn and sipping a drink when Dean Ambrose stole his soda. Inside the ring, Seth Rollins and Heath Slater were working a "Beat The Clock" challenge match, but it's Ricky's shocked facial expression which lives longest in the memory.
He was positively shook that Deano would nab his drink. Imagine that happened to paying punters nowadays who are having to remortgage the house for WWE tickets?! They'd probs be shelling out $9 for a soft drink from the concessions stand too, so it wouldn't go down well. Obviously, back in 2014, Saints wasn't a paying fan. He was a paid extra.
This wasn't his first rodeo either. Ricky also took a powerbomb from Ryback on an episode in 2013 too. CM Punk, who was never exactly complimentary of Ryback's abilities, would likely claim that doing the planted fan spot was a million times better than the bump.
Typically, Saints made the most of both roles, but his aghast expression when Ambrose grabbed the drink will leave you laughing. Half-chewed popcorn spilling out of his mouth added to the moment.
