15 Ups & 1 Down From AEW Dynamite (Oct 23)

6. Out Of Darkness

SCU Scorpio Sky Frankie Kazarian
AEW

Having Chris Jericho and his Inner Circle come out and take seats in an exeuctive box during this match was a mistake. It was a bad WWE-style move that dragged attention away from the Dark Order and SoCal Uncensored and towards Jericho's group, who were cut to far too many times throughout the bout. This was all done to set up the Cody angle later on, of course, but it shouldn't have happened here.

It's to SCU and Dark Order's credit, then, that they were able to swing the crowd back around after this and a slow start to create a cauldron of noise towards the end, with the last few minutes as good as anything else on the show.

The bout was informed by the Lucha Brothers murdering Christopher Daniels last week. SCU's p*ssed-off fire made it impossible to root against them knowing that victory would mean a shot at Rey Fenix and Pentagon Jr., and they came wearing their game faces. There was no "worst town" bit or any kind of fun from Scorpio Sky and Frankie Kazarian: they were strictly business, and the Dark Order responded with spectacular work of their own.

Stu Grayson hit the bout's most sensational spot, leaping out of the ring and over the corner while Sky was giving chase. A beautiful dive to take Kazarian out, though it wasn't enough for the win, with the S-C-U Later putting the athlete born and bred for combat away.
