15 Ups & 6 Downs For WWE NXT In 2019

11. The Prophecy Fulfilled

Undisputed Era

As arguably the best act on arguably the best show, The Undisputed Era are arguably the best thing in all of wrestling. But enough of things up for debate when one thing was categorically proven un-dis-puted in 2019 - the group's quest for golden domination was a stroke of booking genius.

All started to appear lost for the quartet following Adam Cole's TakeOver: New York loss, not least with his loyal stablemates also short on gold. Tempers and tensions flared between Roderick Strong and Cole in particular as his leadership looked in doubt for one of the first times - until he snared the NXT Championship all by himself at TakeOver: XXV.

At the exact point when his goon squad could have finally seen the light, he showed them a different one to reassert his authority and finally execute his grand "prophecy" as the black-and-gold brand's talisman. Bobby Fish and Kyle O'Reilly's capture of the tag team titles was necessary considering the state of the doubles division, whilst Strong's victory over Velveteen Dream highlighted one of the early USA Network editions of NXT.

For once, they had objective metrics with which to believe their own bullsh*t. The queue of battling babyfaces wanting to rub their noses in it remains long to this day.
