15 Wrestlers WWE Debuted In The WORST Way Possible
14. Johnny Curtis Literally Cries Over Spilled Milk

Debut: Original NXT 'Rookie' Johnny Curtis made his first main roster appearance in a backstage skit on the 3 June 2011 episode of SmackDown. This was supposed to bring closure to his NXT story arc and hint at a new direction for the future Fandango. He wasn't quite a ballroom dancer who caught fire yet, but Curtis could be a credit to SmackDown if used correctly.
Why It Was Bad: WWE's writing team tried to get too clever with their own material, and that strangled any hopes Johnny had of forging a connection with company fans who didn't watch much NXT. Come the SmackDown debut, he bemoaned the fact he wasn't getting a promised tag title shot alongside 'Pro' R-Truth by literally crying over some spilled milk.
The gag missed its mark.
Curtis poured milk into a big saucer then tipped it over his own head after crying some over the top crocodile tears. Truthfully, the promo didn't do much to make Johnny look like a star in the making. There wasn't enough attention put on the NXT storyline, so fans watching might not even have known that Curtis and Truth were meant to team up and go after the gold at all.
This was an awkward period in WWE. Vince McMahon wanted his wrestlers to show off their personalities, but bizarrely cast them in skits that felt forced or just flat out embarrassed them. Hazing NXT rookies who were only trying to become workable assets on the main roster was counterproductive for a start, but this Curtis crap was just pure rubbish that had next to no follow up anyway.
