John Cena has entered the Royal Rumble match seven times, which is surprising given the number of championship matches he also seems to have been involved in at the event. Cena made his Rumble debut in 2003 but would have to wait until 2005 for a memorable moment, when he was in the final two with Batista. The two future superstars fell over the top rope together, resulting in Mr McMahon ordering the match to be restarted. The Animal would pick up the victory and WrestleMania 21 main event match, but Cena would follow closely behind as he defeated JBL at the event to win the WWE Championship. The Chain Gang Soldier has won the Rumble match, most recently in 2013 when he last eliminated Ryback to get a chance to avenge his loss to The Rock the previous year. It was a predictable outcome and almost the exact opposite of Cenas 2008 victory, when his surprise return in Madison Square Garden blew the roof off. His subsequent victory placed his sights firmly on Randy Orton, but Cena was unsuccessful in regaining the title at WrestleMania XXIV.
