16 Awesome Stories From Eddie Guerrero Tribute On Talk Is Jericho

5. Eddie Winning The Championship

Jericho talks about how remarkable it was that Eddie went from being one of the "vanilla midgets" to the WWE champion in just a few years, and he asks Dean what was the motivation behind making putting the title on him. He responds that it's because the people were ready, and adds that Eddie "thought he was ready." He says that Guerrero wrestled as a big man, saying he would take the match to you and be aggressive. Dean said he believed in Eddie the person which translated into his character and he bought into the idea of him beating Brock. Chris says that Vince obviously bought in as well. Chavo talks about how Eddie had a larger than life presence, and the guys say that size didn't matter with him. Chris says that Eddie and Shawn Michaels are the two guys he can think of that were just as good at being babyfaces as they were heels. Chavo says the night that Eddie won the title from Lesnar, the show wasn't initially a sellout but that they moved so many tickets through walk-up purchases that the event became standing room only.
