16 Reasons 2014 Was A Terrible Year For WWE

8. Too Many Absurd Storylines

Bella Twins Terrible Acting For months, fans were treated to the Bella Twins feuding with one another. With short, uninteresting matches, lame segments with guest hosts, and Nicki aligning with the evil Stephanie McMahon, fans were expecting some kind of payoff with this match, despite what little fan interest there actually was. So it must€™ve been very strange for the Bellas to be back together as a duo without any explanation whatsoever. This isn€™t the only example of creative confusion; the Big Show turned heel again, with little to no explanation, leading to thousands of jokes on him having annual turns. at this point, anything he says and does it completely unbelievable in the literal sense; no matter how evil he tries to describe himself, people will still see him as the crying giant, or the lovable giant, or the Knucklehead, or something else along those lines. But the biggest example of strange and otherwise stupid storylines has been the continued €˜feud€™, if it can be so called, between Adam Rose and the Bunny (who, somehow, has a profile on wwe.com). All of these issues show that the WWE creative department has been struggling to come up with interesting characters while at the same time appealing to a very wide audience. Though some of the younger fans might€™ve been interested in Adam Rose and the Bunny when they first debuted, having comedy characters featured to prominently takes away from other stars who desperately need TV time to show off their skills. The other big problem that became very clear in WWE is that the creative team doesn€™t seem to care at all about long-term continuity in terms of storylines. Sure, they referenced a feud between John Cena and Ryback from last year, but their current feuds just scream of lack of long-term planning. Why would they try and make us invest emotionally in the Bella feud, only for it to end without a climax? If this problem was so widespread during 2014, one can only hope that it gets fixed by 2015. The last thing WWE needs is more dumb storylines that make fans change the channel every week.
