16 Worst-To-Best Matches Of WWE's Summerslam Weekend

16. Ryback (c) Defeated Big Show And The Miz

As long as The Miz is a part-timer who gets great heat but is not exactly setting the ring ablaze on a World Championship level, he'll always be flawed. Ryback's weaknesses outnumber his strengths, and there's the Big Show, who has been switched babyface and heel more times than Lex Luger. In a situation that on TV over the past few weeks looked like it would be an absolute cluster, this match certainly was just that. WWE's midcard is a mess of guys who were all given a chance to break the glass ceiling, but somehow slipped down again beneath the surface. If you put the Intercontinental Championship on one of those guys, it makes the belt feel like it's just sorta there, collecting dust in a very boring place. This was one of the few matches of the weekend that was booked basically because there were three guys with name value doing nothing who needed something significant to do. When booking becomes that transparent, it's actually not good at all. What to do for the future? Well, Ryback feuding with Kevin Owens for the Intercontinental Championship would be an excellent start. The Miz, may be best if transitioned into a role as a manager for say, Team Bella. If Nikki Bella loses the strap soon, The Miz crossing over into the ultra-hot Divas division makes character sense for the attention-starved socialite. Maybe then pushing Ryback into yes, another tag team with the Big Show would be a great idea to consider. Call them "Appetites for Destruction" and you're onto something.
