17 Early 90s WCW Stars You Totally Don't Remember

5. Hugh Morrus

Generally speaking, one-note characters have an extremely limited shelf life in the world of professional wrestling. Once the joke has been giggled at a handful of times, there's really nowhere else to take things, and such gimmicks tend to drift off into the annuls of history. Bill DeMott is still employed by WWE today, working diligently behind the scenes as a head trainer in the promotion's developmental system. Before all that, he was an active wrestler, winning the United States and Tag-Team Titles during his time with WCW from 1995-2001. An intense big man, DeMott was saddled with an inane 'laughing man' schtick. Hugh Morrus ('Humorous', get it?) was old before it even saw the light of day, and the idea should have perhaps never made it out of the creative offices. Still, Morrus was one of the initial members of the Invasion by WCW of WWE, after the company were bought out by Vince McMahon, but why they kept the name is mind boggling!
