17 Reasons WrestleMania 17 Is The Greatest Wrestling PPV Ever

1. The Turn

As soon as Vince McMahon came out, you knew something big was going to go down. Vince had even foreshadowed his involvement in the main event by telling Michael Cole backstage, €œYou want shocking? Tonight, you€™re going to get shocking.€ At the time, it would seem he was referring to his match with his son, Shane. However, he was referring to something else entirely. The shock of Austin joining up with McMahon has lost a bit of its luster 15 years later, with the benefit of hindsight and seeing how the ill-fated InVasion angle ate up most of Austin€™s fantastic heel turn. But at the time, you had Austin and McMahon, the two sides of the greatest rivalry in professional wrestling, a rivalry which single-handedly turned the tide in the Monday Night Wars, teaming up. But what was really outstanding about the finish to the match was how Rock wouldn€™t say die, kicking out of everything that Austin could throw at him, even with McMahon€™s help. The match didn€™t end on a Stunner. It ended with Austin giving the Rock a barrage of steel chair shots, finishing with one gigantic swing. No ending to Wrestlemania has come close until last year€™s ending. The greatest Pay Per View of all time had the greatest ending. Thoughts on this list? If Wrestlemania X7 isn€™t the greatest of all time, what€™s your pick? Comment below or tweet me @PocketSeagull.
