4. Heat With The Rock
Chris asks about the real life heat between he and The Rock and what it stemmed from. Cena says his vision of their feud was Michael Jordan vs. LeBron James, and Rock didn't appreciate the way he took to calling the box office superstar out for not loving the business. Cena said he didn't have the proper perspective on Rock at first and didn't until later. He says when Rock came back Dwayne would go out and trash him and he felt like he wasn't given enough of a platform to respond. John says it was one of those things where he'd done so well outside of the venue of wrestling that he thinks Rock forgot what it was like to not be so protected, and he never cared what he said about him he just wanted the chance to jab back, because those are the best scenarios when the crowd thinks they hate each other. It brought out a passion in both of them and kept Cena on his A-game. Jericho asks about the night Rock had his promo written on his arm:
"I'm sitting ready to go out and I have this whole thing that I'm going to say, and a referee...goes 'what is that on his arm?' And I look...and I just struck gold. You're supposed to be the duke of the microphone and you come out like this? Not on my watch. Not here. It was like 'Dude, this is where the Yankees play. Leave the playbook at home. Feel them out there. Go do your thing."
Chris asks about Rock's reaction and Cena confirms he was p*ssed off about it, saying it was on from that point on, but that he was always professional, pointing out that's the thing that he respects about him more than anything else. He says his intention was to never make him look foolish, it was to make them both step up.
