Kane was out of the frying pan and into the fire in September 1996. He was told that he was able to move on from the Yankem character, but was then told that he'd have to play a fake Diesel. It was a death spot for Jacobs. Having to mimic another wrestler was a constraint on his own career. He literally had to curb his own style and just go through the motions of Kevin Nash's moveset. But worst of all, the whole thing just looked ridiculous. It was obvious that he wasn't Diesel. Coming off like a cheap imitation wasn't constructive, it just made Jacobs look like an inferior version of a real star.
