In 1997, Jacobs found out he was going to be getting a big push as a new character called Kane. However, it was another over the top character and it also involved wearing a mask. At first, he was probably a little put out and felt like he was bouncing from one dud gimmick to another. He'd have had no idea just how big Kane was going to become. Wearing the mask would've been the most problematic part. Having to wrestle in a tight face cover is a wrestler's worst nightmare. It's hot and uncomfortable, plus restrictive on vision. The Kane mask in particular looked rather uncomfortable. For six years, he had to put up with that discomfort.
