5. British Bulldogs & Tito Santana Vs. The Hart Foundation & Danny Davis - WrestleMania III
Crooked officiating was at the heart of the rivalry that pitted The British Bulldogs and Tito Santana against The Hart Foundation and "Dangerous" Danny Davis. Davis was a lead official in WWE in 1986 when Santana lost the Intercontinental Championship to "Macho Man" Randy Savage after the villain used a foreign object to score the pinfall. Fast forward months later, and Davis inexplicably allowed illegal double-team maneuvers that led to Bret Hart and Jim Neidhart capturing the Tag Team Championships from Davey Boy Smith and Dynamite Kid. After being suspended for his actions, Davis aligned himself with the hated Jimmy Hart and The Hart Foundation, and a huge Six-Man Tag Team match was booked for WrestleMania III. People tend to forget how over the story actually was. Davis was truly hated for cheating popular babyfaces like Santana and the Bulldogs out of their titles and fans wanted to see him get his comeuppance. They wanted Santana, Smith and Kid to tear him apart for their enjoyment. But they did not. In fact, Davis scored the win for his team by pinning Smith following a shot to the head with Jimmy Hart's trademark megaphone. Who says every great story concludes with a happy ending?
