In terms of actually breaking into the family business, Mick notes that Shane didn't start directly at the top as most would assume and asks him to take us through that entire process.

McMahon responds saying he began working on the ring crew at an early age, saying that it was important to both he and his father that he start at the ground floor and work his way up.

Shane says he took pride in doing tasks like setting up the ring because that's where the athletes perform and you need to make sure it's safe. He was also responsible for menial tasks such as taking ring gear back to the talent, eventually working his way up to referee, where he credits working matches featuring Tully Blanchard and Arn Anderson as some of his most educational experiences due to their mastery of psychology and ring work.
