11. Why Wrestle When He Didn't "Need" To?

Mick wants to know why Shane, at around 25 or 26 years old, would decide to step in the ring at put his body on the line, despite the fact that his fate was set and his future was mapped out.

Shane-O-Mac replies that there were several reasons. For one, he wanted an opportunity to showcase his athletic ability. Initially he had hoped to go to college and play football but a knee injury brought an end to those plans, so he always had "an itch that needed scratching" in that regard.

Foley says he takes exception to that because from what he knows of the McMahon family they don't "scratch itches", they jump headfirst into whatever endeavor they're involved in. Shane agrees and says he dove in completely, but first he had to learn how to work.
