18 Things We Learned From Shinsuke Nakamura On Talk Is Jericho
1. Favorite Match Of His Career
As we wrap things up with the Talk is Jericho standard closing question, our esteemed host wants to know what the Japanese star's favorite match of his career has been.
He names his bout with Kota Ibushi at the 2014 Tokyo Dome show, saying that his opponent knows how to actually fight, so he felt the same feeling in the match as he did in real fights as did Kota.
He admits that the match was so stiff that there was a point during which he wondered if it was turning into an actual shoot rather than a worked performance. Jericho mentions that Ibushi is working the Cruiserweight Classic and says that hopefully WWE signs him as well.
Nakamura agrees but adds "Yeah but he's strange. He's very strange" to which Jericho replies "Aren't we all strange? We're in the wrestling business."
Shinsuke says names "Human Nature" and "Bicycle" as his top Michael Jackson and Queen songs respectively, and then sends a message to his fans in his native tongue before signing off.
This interview was quite slow-paced due to the language barrier but once the two got into it things began to flow a little more freely. I think Chris had to feel him out to see how fluent Nakamura was and then he altered his interview style accordingly. Shinsuke is clearly an affable guy and the differences in context of some phrases added an entertaining wrinkle to the podcast.
