13. His Appearance In Playgirl Magazine
When Shawn Michaels posed in Playgirl magazine in 1996 he did so because he probably thought it was a good way for him to make extra cash while getting his name out there. Any publicity is good publicity, right? Not always. Playboy magazine has always been very popular as something that guys bought to check out pictures of hot women and read the articles (wink wink) designed for men. Playgirl wasn't necessarily for women readers. It was aimed at gay men. Michaels said years later that he didn't know that was the case. Something that added to Michaels rivalry with Bret Hart was Hart mentioning the Playgirl shoot repeatedly as a way to suggest that Michaels was gay. He isn't gay, but the insinuation that he was added more heat to their growing rivalry. It's not something that WWE likes to mention anymore likely because Michaels regretted doing it in the first place.
