2 Ups & 4 Downs From AEW Rampage (March 8 - Results & Review)

3. A Messy, Spotty Main Event!

Top Flight Dante Martin Private Party Komander

Largely the same could be said for the main event, but at least that had the upcoming AEW Tag Title tournament to help frame it. Sadly, some familiar AEW tropes stopped the headliner from being a hot lead-in to the tourney - there was just nothing to it, being brutally honest.

The match was torn in half by usual picture-in-picture madness. The ad break was timed terribly here, because everyone was upping the energy levels to brawl outside the ring, then commentary had to quickly throw to commercials. That killed any chances the main had of succeeding.

Approx four minutes later, Rampage returned to everything right as it had calmed down. The live crowd was quiet, not much was going on to maintain interest, and then Darius Martin pinned Komander to give Top Flight the win. That was literally it.

Again, some actual character work trumps just throwing guys out there to do spots in between ads.
