2 Ups & 4 Downs From AEW Rampage: New Year's Smash (Dec 29 - Results & Review)

2. Can We Have Some Focus?

Here's something else on that subject.

Less Ring Of Honor matches on mainline AEW programming heading into 2024 is a real must. The company showcased both the ROH Pure and FTW Titles on Rampage, and it was genuinely difficult to care much about either of them. In fairness, that's especially true for the latter championship.

The FTW belt is a token gesture for Hook more than anything substantial. Like, what's the point of it? There are far better ways to pay tribute to classic ECW or Taz's legacy than by keeping this prop around. It flits between being "unofficial" and something Tony Khan enjoys squeezing onto pay-per-views, and that should stop.

Rampage shouldn't become a wasteland for matches Tony can't fit onto the ROH brand, or a place where "unofficial" titles are allowed to run riot. Being the 'C' tier show is fine, but Rampage has to be more in-line with Dynamite and Collision than ROH.
