2 Ups & 4 Downs From AEW Rampage (Nov 10 - Results & Review)
2. Presentation’s All Over The Place
Ricky Starks vs. Preston Vance was a solid enough match bell-to-bell, but the presentation framing it was all over the shop. Honestly, who's supposed to be the babyface team here? Rampage sort of made it look like Vance and Rush are meant to be the good guys, but that'll be a stretch considering how they've been booked in the past.
Also, if this bout was setup for LFI getting an AEW Tag Title shot, then it flopped. Preston lost, then the champs laughed at he and Rush after putting the boots to Vance and running away. It should be impossible to screw up this sort of quick title match build, but All Elite gave it a good try.
Fans in attendance blatantly didn't know how to react.
Ricky and Bill are more likeable than LFI, and the entire match layout suggested Starks was a sympathetic underdog against the larger Vance. Then, Bill stuck his nose in for no reason, Ricky stole a win and everyone on the other side of the barrier just kinda looked around at one another like, 'Huh?!'.
