2 Ups & 5 Downs From AEW Rampage (Jan 20)

1. Good Back-And-Forth Opener

Ethan Page Matt Hardy Jungle Boy
AEW

Behold the match of the night.

Jungle Boy vs. Ethan Page was so well-worked. These boys have some chemistry, so much so that it'd be nice to see All Elite revisit this for a championship somewhere down the road. Page had the power edge over Jack Perry, and JB's spirited comeback got the crowd invested throughout.

Anyone who reads these articles weekly knows how frosty yours truly is on the Matt Hardy stuff with The Firm, but Page pulling on Matt's ponytail for leverage and actually costing himself the match as a result worked. They did well with the story and the match was enjoyable. Mission accomplished.

Ethan probs needs to get out of The Firm's shadow long-term though. Stokely Hathaway's group is so low-rent that it's a painful reminder of how crap wrestling stables can be, and Page is surely ready to stand on his own merits without somebody doing his talking.

Top opener, at least.
