2 Ups & 5 Downs From AEW Rampage (May 13)
2. A Lifeless Main Event
"Hard to care" was a theme on this week's Rampage.
It's challenging to give a toss about Mogul Embassy or The Dark Order. The latter has been doing the same thing for far too long. Meanwhile, Swerve Strickland can talk about teaming up with The Embassy as "an upgrade" all he likes, but it isn't true. Keith Lee and Dustin Rhodes suddenly teaming up for the sake of it is a real struggle too.
This is what happens when you have too many wrestlers on your roster. Everything gets watered down, and it's tough to come up with interesting scenarios/characters for them all. All of that combined to make Rampage's main event a snore that ultimately meant nothing.
The Order drift around treading water, and Swerve comes across as less of a star now he's teaming up with Brian Cage, The Gates Of Agony etc. Then, there's Keith Lee - he's nowhere near the levels of 'can't miss" like he was during the NXT days.
