2 Ups & 7 Downs From WWE Raw (May 23)

5. No Joking Matter

When you need to put over a new heel monster, the best move in 2022 clearly is to dig Jerry “The King” Lawler out of mothballs and have him conduct an “interview” where he makes lame jokes about the heel, right?

Oh right, that’s the absolute dumbest thing to do… which means it’s exactly what happened Monday night. Lawler tried to interview Veer Mahaan, but the superstar wasn’t in a talkative mood, ignoring his questions. It wasn’t until Jerry joked about Veer being hairy that he grabbed the mic and growled about Rey Mysterio being a legend who is weak because he’s concerned about his son Dominik.

And then Veer had to threaten Lawler, which drew the Mysterios out for a 2-on-1 attack, with the luchadors getting in the ring and dropkicking Veer off the apron a bunch before trying to invite him into the ring, but Mahaan just walked away.

Smell the money from this feud!

The worst part is that on his Twitter feed, Veer appears to be a dapper fellow with a sense of humor, but of course, he’s an unhinged, growling heel. Lawler added nothing, and this Mysterio feud feels worse than it did last week. Here’s hoping it was just a bad taste left over from the King.
