2 Ups & 7 Downs From WWE Raw (May 23)
1. Bliss Still Directionless
Three weeks into her return, and Alexa Bliss looks pretty listless.
Bliss was a shock return two weeks ago, showing up for the first time since Elimination Chamber in February and defeating Sonya Deville. She would repeat the feat last week, but without saying a word, so fans had no explanation of the character change or her direction going forward.
Alexa got some mic time Monday night, but she didn’t shed any light on anything. She made a joke about staying out of trouble, made a joke about how therapy works wonders, and commented on how her best friend is a doll. It was literally the lowest-hanging fruit and told you nothing about her, other than she’s clearly a babyface now… with new, crappy entrance music.
Then the match against Nikki ASH… was not good. Sorry, but even as a Bliss fan, this writer can’t find the positive here. She looked tentative at times, like she was still getting her feet back under her, which might make perfect sense – she’d only had one match since September before she returned a couple of weeks ago.
But yeah, three weeks into her return, and the bloom is already off Bliss. She has no edge, no purpose, her matches are lackluster, and her theme song was inexplicably changed. Only WWE could screw things up like this.
