2 Ups And 4 Downs From WWE Mae Young Classic (Sept 12)

2. Zeuxis Advances

If Jim Ross was calling this year’s Mae Young Classic, he probably would have busted out the analogies to explain what we watched in the Aerial Monroe versus Zeuxis match.

“A clash of styles” would have been a popular one from Good Ol’ JR, and it would have fit. Monroe and Zeuxis battled back and forth in a clunky match that had no real flow, no real cohesion, and a series of blown or awkward spots. To say they “couldn’t get on the same page” would be accurate.

The thing that really was surprising – and disappointing – was seeing Monroe lose to the luchador, as Big Swole seemed to have more going for her. Zeuxis missed a couple moves and did nothing of note until the Spanish Fly finish, which was the only thing that looked crisp and impressive.

Maybe she advanced because of her veteran status, but it just felt like an odd decision.
