20 Absolute Best Wrestlers In The World Right Now

Honourable Mentions (Or: "Where Are My Favourites?")

Dozens of other wrestlers were considered when compiling this list. Here's who came closest.

Daniel Garcia was on the edge. If his 2022 independent schedule was as busy as in 2021, he'd have been a dead cert. Already a capable television performer in AEW, his work in such groups as Limitless and Beyond showed he is already one of the best technical wrestlers on the planet - and the hottest young prospect in America.

From AEW, Darby Allin and Jon Moxley (phenomenal since returning) almost made it. Britt Baker would have if not for the gap between her character and in-ring work, while Serena Deeb's excellent 'Professor' run needs more meat on its bones. PAC is a top three wrestler in the world on his day but rarely gets the opportunity to show it. Elsewhere, Kenny Omega hasn't wrestled since November, while The Young Bucks' activity has dropped off as well.

WWE is tricky. The company continues to get a little from a lot, rarely providing its multi-talented roster chances to show how good they are. Sasha Banks, WALTER, and more are generational talents, they just lack the body of work. Nonetheless, AJ Styles has had a strong year as a singles act on Raw, while Bianca Belair is outperforming even the Four Horsewomen at the moment, despite her inconsistent presentation.

From New Japan, the evergreen Hiroshi Tanahashi and Zack Sabre Jr. came closest. Elsewhere in Japan, Takuya Nomura, Jun Akiyama, Yuki Ueno, Miyu Yamashita, and Shun Skywalker (the most interesting character in wrestling right now) all deserve nods.

Anyway, here's the best in the world.
